“Yiayia” of Thomas Saxonis, Theodore Phillips, Mia, Elena, and Theodore Paul Critikos. She was the last surviving sibling of 7, predeceased in death by the late James Andreadis, Leon Andreadis, George Andreadis, Irene Papadopoulos, Anthony Andreadis, and John Andreadis.
Survived by her sisters-in-law, Calliope Andreadis, Irene Andreadis, Fotene Andreadis, and Sophie Andreadis, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Born in East Boston, Mary was the daughter of the late Theodore and Stamatia (Triantafilakis)
Andreadis. She grew up in Chelsea and proudly attended the Chelsea Public Schools graduating High School in 1951. Mary graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education in 1955 from Salem State College and then earned her master’s degree in education from Boston State in 1960. She was a teacher at the Prattville School in Chelsea for 38 years. Mary was a lifelong member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Boston. After completion of Sunday School, her great faith led her to leave a lasting impression on Sunday School students she taught, especially as she guided the students in making palm crosses yearly. Mary served on the Parish Council for eight years, acting as secretary for six, also serving on the Board of Trustees all while singing in the choir of her beautiful church since 1955. She represented the Cathedral at the last ten Clergy Laity Conferences. She worked on the Centennial Committee.
After retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at the Hellenic Nursing Home and spreading joy to residents weekly. Mary worked countless church festivals making salads and preparing food in the kitchen. She proudly participated in every musical review the church had. Her dedication and hard work led her to become a recipient of the prestigious Metropolis of Boston award. Her competitive nature and love of all sports enabled her to enioy participating in multiple bowling leagues, even winning awards against players half her age. Whether it was bowling, playing board games, or watching her grandchildren compete in their sporting events, Mary was everyone’s biggest supporter and fan.
