Gaffney, Mary Collins of Hingham, formerly of NY, April 2, 2006 at the age of 96. She was the widow of Miller S. Gaffney and is survived by her daughter Sarah Jane “Sally” (Johnson) & her husband Bruce Cloughly of Spring Hill, FL, her son Harry L. Johnson, III of Hull, a step-daughter Carol (Johnson) & her husband William Abbot of Newburyport, and her former daughter-in-law Anne Burley Kimball of Hingham. Also survived by 8 beloved grandchildren, 13 beloved great grandchildren, two nephews: Fred Collins, Jr. and Thomas Collins of Seattle, WA, one great niece and two great nephews. Mrs. Gaffney was predeceased by her first husband Harry L. Johnson, Jr., one son Frederick W. Johnson (who was survived by his daughters Gretchen Johnson O’Connor and Marta Johnson) and one great-grand daughter Hannah Collins McCarthy. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service in St. John the Evangelist Church, 172 Main St., Hingham Wedesday at 11:00 AM. Burial in Vine Hills Cemetery, Plymouth. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mrs. Gaffney may be made to Perkins School for the Blind, 175 North Beacon St., Watertown, MA 02172. Arrangements by Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, Hingham. Obituary Information: Mary Collins Gaffney of Hingham died April 2, 2006 at the age of 96. Born in Seattle, Washington, she came as a bride to Binghamton, NY where she lived for 69 years. Mrs. Gaffney was past president of the Binghamton Junior League and a member of Trinity Memorial Church and its Altar Guild in NY. She was also a former board member of the Family and Children’s Service Society. She served as a Red Cross Nurse’s Aide during WWII in Washington, D.C. and after the war in Binghamton. She was a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America. She was an avid walker, skier and golfer. Mrs. Gaffney was an alumna of Dana Hall School in Wellesley, MA and attended the University of Washington.
