Mary A. Shuttleworth

Shuttleworth, Mary A. (Duggan) of Quincy, died September 21, 2013.

Beloved wife of the late John A. Shuttleworth.  Loving mother of  John A. Shuttleworth, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Harwich, Mark G. Shuttleworth of Maine, Dana B. Shuttleworth and his wife Elaine  of Georgetown, Nancy  Shuttleworth-Bizek  and her husband Bob of Fairhaven, VT and Scott A. Shuttleworth and his wife Donna of Quincy.  Sister of the late Marjorie Jenkins, Charles Duggan, Alice Mochen and Helen Myllmaki.  Devoted grandmother of Jillian, Austin, Stephen, Matthew, Lauren, Jaclyn, and Sydney.  Mary is also survived by 3 great grandchildren.

Mary Ann was born and raised in Quincy moving to Braintree during high school, graduated from Quincy High School in 1942 where she met her future husband John, and married in 1945.  They began their life together living in Houghs Neck in Quincy, moved to upstate New York in the 1950’s, then to Connecticut in the 1960’s, and finally to her beloved Cape Cod in 1999, where she had spent a great deal of her youth with extended family. While living in Connecticut and raising 5 children, she began a long work career which included owning a women’s clothing store and working for Connecticut Valley Hospital for over 25 years.  Mary loved the water, and she and John spent summers sailing on Long Island Sound, with sailing trips to Cape Cod and Florida, and were members of Shennocossett Yacht Club in Groton, CT. for many years.  Mary had the soul of an angel; she was a gentle and very loving mother, and a real treasure to all that were fortunate to know her over her long and happy life.
