Milligan, Mary A. “Mare” (McDonough) of Braintree, died peacefully at home with her family by her side on November 10, 2021 at the age of 68.
Mare worked at the phone company for 40 years. Since childhood Mare has dedicated her life, and found great joy volunteering and helping those in need. Actively involved in local food pantries and multiple charities, she also volunteered and served as a board member at My Brothers Keeper for over 20 years. Lovingly known as “Auntie Mare” to all who knew her, it is the title that best defined her life. Her love, friendship and generosity was shared with so many.
She was the daughter of the late John and Virginia McDonough. Beloved wife of Al Milligan and the late Robert Lombardi. Cherished sister of John J. McDonough and his wife Marybeth of Norwood; Marty McDonough and his wife Paula of Braintree; Paul McDonough and his wife Nan of Clinton; Kate Waldron and her husband Jay of Braintree; Ginny Kelly and her husband Patrick of Hanson; and Maureen Schiffmann and her husband Paul of Hingham. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 11 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Clare’s Church, Braintree at 12 PM. Burial in Plain Street Cemetery, Braintree.
