Mary A. Keller

Mary A. (Smith) Keller of South Weymouth, died February 1, 2021.

One of eleven children to Patrick & Bridget Smith from Co. Cavan, Ballyhaise, Ireland. Mary, not knowing how many hearts she would touch. Mary would light up the room with her infectious smile, She also had a very special gift – she was blessed with a beautiful voice. Mary and I meet in the Andy Healy Band in the early 1980’s. Mary had already been with the band for several years,  before I joined in 1982. I was the guy who admired her from behind the drummer. We soon fell in love and  married in December 1985. Every weekend was a new adventure  for us. Being in the band and not knowing how the crowd would be at any gig,  playing anywhere from Boston to California – we both loved music- for us it wasn’t a job it was fun.

Mary was a manager at the Layfette House in Foxboro , where she treated everyone like family from staff to patrons, with her great smile. Everyone fell in love with her. Mary would sing on St. Patrick’s Day at the Layfette House for  years with John Connor’s and the Irish Express. She was singing up until last March before Covid. Mary had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off her back, never thinking about herself. Last October 2020, Mary was diagnosed with cancer- she was in pain and still put on a smile. Mary passed away from cancer on Monday evening February 1, 2021 on St. Bridget’s Day, which was her mother’s name. I was by her side –  playing music that she loved. God has gained another angel for his choir.

Love You ALWAYS

Jim
