Mary A. Godfrey

Godfrey, Mary A. (O’Brien), age 88, of Hingham, died September 9, 2013.

Beloved wife of the late Robert Godfrey.  Loving mother of Mary ellen Warjas and her husband Joseph of San Jose, California, John Godfrey and his wife Carol of South Weymouth, Kevin Godfrey of San Diego, California, Robert Godfrey and his wife Sharon of Ocoee, Florida and Theresa Tuite and her husband William of Hingham.  Sister of Grace McIver and her husband Kenneth of Scotia, New York, William O’Brien and his wife Mickey of Oakland, New Jersey, Patricia O’Brien of Hingham, and the late Catherine and John O’Brien.  Mary is also lovingly survived by her grandchildren, Jenni (Warjas) Morales, Michael Warjas, Marc Caruso, Paul Caruso, John Godfrey, Katie Tuite, and Maggie Tuite, plus several great grandchildren.

Mary was born and raised in New York City. For the past 62 years, she lived in Hingham, where she and her husband settled and raised their family. She was a devoted Catholic and a daily communicant at St. Paul’s Church in Hingham.  Mary enjoyed knitting, reading and puzzles.  Most of all Mary loved spending time with her family, who were the cornerstone of her life.  She will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known her.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 3-7 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Saturday, prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10 AM. Burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.
