Mrs. Mary A. (Cullen) Canty, of Scituate, died June 16, 2023.
Loving mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and retired nurse, Mary A. (Cullen) Canty of Scituate died June 16, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. She died at home in the care of her beloved daughters, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Mary was born in Boston on October 3, 1947. She grew up in Quincy with her family and close-knit group of friends who remained her most cherished companions throughout her life. Mary completed her nursing degree at Boston City Hospital, School of Nursing in 1968. From there, she raised her family in Weymouth and settled into a busy life balancing work, family, and her many friendships. Mary enjoyed the simple pleasures in life such as card games, completing puzzles of all varieties, kicking butt at bowling, and spending quality time with friends and family.
Mary was a diligent and compassionate nurse who spent the majority of her career in the oncology unit at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, MA. She prided herself on her strong work ethic, which made her a pleasure to work with and inevitably created lifelong bonds with co-workers.

Mother of Amy Lank of Scituate, the late Kevin Canty, Karen MacDonald and her husband, Geoff, of Weymouth, and Pam Barbour and her husband, Chris, of Scituate.
