Martin J. Joyce

Martin J. “Marty” Joyce  of Weymouth and Bass River, died December 10, 2013 at the age of 86.

He was the son of the late John and Jane Joyce; son in law of the late William and Bessie Perrault; loving husband of Elizabeth A. “Betty” (Perrault) Joyce of Weymouth; loving father of Martin J. Joyce, Jr. and wife Patricia Serena of Weymouth; devoted grandfather of Matthew W. Joyce and wife Elizabeth (Creedon) and Michael J. Joyce. 

Born in Dorchester, Marty grew up in Quincy Point and East Braintree before moving to Weymouth 61 years ago. His summers were spent at his family home in Bass River, Cape Cod. He was a proud graduate and avid alumnus of Boston College, class of 1951. A member and former president of the B.C. Club of Cape Cod, he enjoyed attending all of the home football games with his friends and fellow club members. A veteran of WWII, he served as a Corpsman in the U.S. Navy. Very active in the town of Weymouth, Marty served on the Weymouth Planning Board for many years, at one point as Chairman, and later was a member of the Weymouth Zoning Board of Appeals.  He was a member of the Weymouth Elks, the Son’s of Italy and a 3rd Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. A daily communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Weymouth, Marty was also a Eucharistic minister and lector. For 25 years, he owned and operated Lincoln Perrault Buick dealership in Weymouth along with his father in law. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home EAST WEYMOUTH at 3 Charles Street (corner of Charles & Middle Street). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 11:45 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 12:30 PM. Burial in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Weymouth.

Donations in memory of Marty may be made to the Immaculate Conception Society of Saint Vincent de Paul.
