Martha Maxwell Zuber of Braintree, died January 17, 2016.
Martha began singing at the age of 16 and was gifted at singing contemporary jazz, spirited blues, swing numbers and jazzy pop standards. As her voice and technique matured, she developed into one of the country’s finest vocalists and was able to travel extensively throughout her career performing at various Supper Clubs, hotels, resorts, nightclubs, theaters, jazz concerts and festivals. Her single “I Pray” hit the Billboard Charts gaining national attention. In her later years, Martha retired from singing and focused her attention on Health Care, spending many years in the employ of Goddard Healthcare and the South Shore VNA.
Devoted mother of Eric Zuber and his partner Troy Frye of Braintree. Longtime companion of Brad Belcher of Braintree. Former wife of Roger Zuber of FL. Loving sister of David Maxwell of Abington and the late Alice Grasso, Dottie Maxwell and John Maxwell. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital)
Funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Friday at 11 AM. Cremation will follow.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Martha may be made to The Home for Little Wanderers, Dev. Dept., 10 Guest St., Boston, MA 02135.
