Martha E. Loss

Martha E. Loss, of Hingham and formerly of Cambridge, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, March 27, 2022. She was 73.

Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on May 3, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Sara (Eliasoph) Loss. Martha was raised in Monroe and Fairfield, Connecticut, attended local schools and graduated from Andrew Warde High School. She continued her education by earning both her bachelor’s and master’s degree from Boston University. Martha’s career was in Ergonomics Consulting. She enjoyed her work and the relationships she built throughout the years.

Gardening, a true art form, was Martha’s great love. She loved being outside, working with her hands and creating beauty in her garden for all to share and appreciate with her. Martha was also a devoted pet owner. She loved dogs and had many canine companions throughout her life. In addition to being a pet owner, being an aunt was the most important part of her life. Though geographically the family was separate as everyone grew, Martha was so happy to be able to attend both her niece’s wedding and her nephew’s wedding. She was so proud of the people they became.

If Martha was your friend, you would know it, and you were lucky. She was devoted to the people she cared for in her life. Martha was a wonderful judge of character, and a calm presence in a turbulent world. Friends and family will miss her dearly.

Martha was the loving sister of Ira S. Loss and his wife Lynn of Florida. She was the devoted aunt of Samantha Loss and her husband Brian Glossman of Maryland and Zachary Loss and his wife Jenna Shulman of New Jersey. She is also survived by many dear friends and extended family.

Martha’s family will host a celebration of life service on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at 10 AM ET. Friends and family are welcome to join the service virtually via Zoom at www.bit.ly/marthaloss.
