Mark S. Jennings

Mark S. Jennings, of Rockland, formerly of Hingham, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at the Pat Roche Hospice House in Hingham. He was 59.

Born in Milton, he was raised in Hingham, and was the son of the late Paul R. and Shirley E. (Gould) Jennings. Mark attended local schools and graduated from Hingham High School with the Class of 1978. After high school, Mark went to work for State Street Bank, where he worked for twenty-three years. After transitioning from State Street Bank, Mark took a position with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. He was a Senior Programmer Analyst and enjoyed his job very much. Mark loved to work and valued the relationships he built throughout the years. Though he never retired, Mark enjoyed his work and helping people along the way.

Mark was a person that other people were drawn to. He was kind, had a great sense of humor and was loyal to everyone. In his spare time, Mark enjoyed golfing, watching television, keeping up with his Boston sports teams, traveling to Canada to visit Montreal and Toronto, as well as Spain, France, Monaco, the UK and California. He also enjoyed playing card games with his friends and had a tight knit group of card playing buddies that got together locally, and would often travel to Florida to vacation together. Growing up, Mark enjoyed summering on Cape Cod in Chatham and working at the horse stables. Mark loved music and was fascinated with high-tech music equipment. He liked to listen to 70’s music and classic rock. Mark was proud to be an accomplished golfer. Though he never boasted about his hobby and ability, he liked knowing that he could hold his own on the green. When things were quiet and Mark was at home, he loved to read. He liked many genres, but his favorites were suspense, thriller and history. Mark’s favorite author was Steve Berry. He and his sister would often share and trade books that they read.

Mark’s caring, loving and selfless demeanor are part of his legacy that continues through his family. He will be missed by all the lives he touched.

Mark was the loving brother of Paul M. Jennings of San Diego, CA, Carol Sarner and her husband David of Pleasantville, NY and the late Susan Mason. Devoted uncle of Megan Mason of Holbrook, Halle and Jason Sarner, both of Pleasantville, NY.
