Kennedy, Mark P., of Weymouth, a dignified United States Marine Corps Veteran and a proud member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 18, 2021 at the age of 86.
Mark was an accomplished attorney who retired from his long career at Travelers Insurance and the Guaranty Fund. He earned his law degree by attending law school at night from Suffolk University while raising his family. Mark lived his summers relaxing at the Kennedy Compound (Cottage 3) in York Beach, ME creating long lasting memories with his family and enjoying happy hour banter with his dear Windemere friends. He was known as an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and always knew when the next game was on. He will be fondly remembered by family and friends for his quick wit, his great sense of humor, his kind heart and his love of the beach. Mark will be sadly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Mark is survived as a beloved husband of 60 years to Pauline Kennedy (Grazioso) of Weymouth. Mark was a loving and supportive father who will be deeply missed by his children, Michael Kennedy and his wife Patricia of Hanover, Joseph Kennedy and his wife Kelley of Franklin and Jeanne Ryan and her husband Michael of Hanover. He was a devoted Grampy of Meghan (Jared), Kristen (Matt), Patrick, Sarah, Aidan, Caroline, Sarah, Michael and Emma. He was the cherished brother of Marie Dougherty of Braintree and the late J. Paul Kennedy. Mark was the son of the late J. James Kennedy and Ethel Frances Dorothy Tobin Kennedy Hay and stepson of Hugh Hay. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 10 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mark may be made to Home Base Veteran and Family Care at Mass General Development Office 125 Nashua Street, Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114-1101.
