Spada, Marjorie A. (Mahan), died Friday November 29th, 2019, at the age of 98.
Loving wife of the late George (Joe) Spada and the late Joseph E. Mahan. Loving mother of the late Joseph E. Mahan II, Kathleen M. Principe, and Robert T. Mahan. She leaves behind her loving daughters, Joanne Chernicki and her husband Joseph, Virginia Gallagher, Marjorie Mahan, and Eileen Mahan, her daughter’s-in-law, Susan Mahan and Connie Mahan, her son-in-law William Principe, her step-children, Salvatore Spada and his wife Carol, Georgeann Votruba and her husband Wally, and Christina Spada, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces. She was sister to the late Richard Hudson, Thomas Hudson, Robert Hudson, and Harriette Hudson.
Marjorie was born in York, ME. She moved to Dorchester, MA, where she met her first husband, Joseph E. Mahan. They lived in Quincy, MA, where they raised their seven children until Joseph’s death in 1955. She met George (Joe) Spada and they married in 1978. Marjorie was a long-time employee of the city of Quincy until her retirement. After retirement, she and Joe enjoyed many years together in Brewster, MA, and Ft. Meyers, FL. Marjorie enjoyed traveling, singing, and dancing. She and Joe performed with the Bonita Springs Band for many years.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday, December 3, from 4-7PM, at the McDonald-Keohane Funeral Home at 809 Main Street, South Weymouth, MA. The service will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 4, at 10AM, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Wollaston Cemetery in Quincy, MA.
If you wish, in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Marjorie’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701, in recognition to Marjorie’s loss of three of her children to cancer.
