Marita T. Farrell

Marita T. (O’Shea) Farrell of Weymouth, died May 17, 2022 at the age of 73.

After graduating from Quincy High School and Boston State College, she worked for several years as a social worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. She then dedicated time to the people she adored the most, her family.   When her children were grown up, she worked for many years transporting students with special needs for Weymouth Public Schools.  On the bus, she would often play music and share her contagious, happy energy with all.  

Marita was a compassionate humanitarian who never had a bad word to say about anybody and whose smile could light up a room. She always strove to find the beauty in all people and things and encourage others to do the same.  She was an avid reader and lover of the arts.  She loved walking and being in nature, especially her happy place: Hancock Pond, Maine.  We will always be reminded of her spirit in all of nature’s wonders: the moon, sunsets, wildflowers, butterflies, dragonflies, and birds (especially hummingbirds and loons).

She is survived by William P. Farrell of Canton, Taryn Long of Weymouth, Trevor Farrell of East Boston, the late Colin Farrell, Dolores Terry of NC, Thomas O’Shea of SC, and her beloved grandchildren, Timothy Long and Riley Long. 

Marita was a beautiful soul, inside and out.  She wanted to go simply and quietly with God.  No services are scheduled at this time. The family would like to extend their utmost gratitude to the staff at The Arbors Assisted Living at Stoughton and the Harbor Health Elder Service Plan (PACE) for all their love, support, and care they gave Marita and her family for over a decade.  They, along with innumerable family and friends, allowed Marita to live with dignity and grace until her final days.
