Mario J. Monaco

Monaco, Mario J. of Cohasset, formerly of Quincy, died on July 17, 2010. He was 87. Beloved husband of 60 years to Pauline A. (DiTullio) Monaco of Cohasset. Devoted father of Stephen Monaco and his wife Cheryl of Pembroke, Andrea Katz and her husband Michael of Hingham, Rosemarie Monaco-Goolgasian and her husband Jeffrey of Scituate and Anthony Monaco of Cohasset. Cherished Nonno of Stephen, Danielle, Christina, Nicholas, Shara and Marisa. Mario was born in Nova Scotia and moved to Mattapan when he was 10 years old. He later lived in Quincy until moving to Cohasset 26 years ago. Mr. Monaco proudly served in the U.S Army Air Force, as a mechanic on Bombers during WWII. Introduced to insurance by his father-in-law, he became an Insurance Broker for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and later owner and president of Granite Insurance Agency, Inc. of Braintree, retiring in 1992. Mario enjoyed building model airplanes and ships and most importantly, spending time with his family. His family describes him as a patient, loving and humble gentleman. He will be sadly missed. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Monday from 2 – 4 & 7-9 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15AM on Tuesday, prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Anthony’s Church at 10 AM. Burial will be in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
