Waywood Murray, Marilyn (Kirwin) of Quincy, age 77, died Saturday, January 5, 2008 surrounded by her loving family. Marilyn was the beloved mother of Michael Murray and his wife Lucia of Quincy, Judith Murray Regan and her husband Richard of Shrewsbury, Mark Murray and his wife Cindy of Hudson, NH, Shawn Murray and his wife Lynne of Alpharetta, GA, Marianne Murray Marinelli and her husband Jim of Braintree, Patti Murray DiBona and her husband Dario of Braintree, Susan Murray Cronin and her husband Larry of Amesbury, Chris Murray and his wife Beth of Abington and Valerie Murray of Quincy. She was the dear sister of Francis Kirwin of Braintree and sister-in-law of Eleanor D’Arrigo of Weymouth, Kathleen McDonough of FL and Elizabeth Murray of Duxbury. She was the niece of Marcy Baumann of FL and cousin of Judy Baumann of GA. Known as “Mimi”, Marilyn was the special grandmother of Jennifer, Deirdre, Brianna, Laura, Colleen, Kaitlin, Chris, Daniel, Steven, Sarah, Elena, Juliana, Andrea, Olivia, Rose, Brendan, Gina, Grace, Maeve, Emma, Kate, Nora and Ceara. She was the beloved wife of the late Gerald T. Murray and the late Robert Waywood, and is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Marilyn was the secretary to the principal of Quincy High School for 30 years. She considered the QHS teachers and staff her second family and maintained close friendships with many of them. An avid reader, Marilyn shared her love of books with friends and family. She was a graduate of St. Gregory’s High School in Dorchester and held a degree from Quincy College. Marilyn loved her home in Adams Shore where she lived for nearly fifty years with its views of Quincy Bay. Her troublesome gardens gave Marilyn great pleasure especially when her impatients and lilies bloomed. She will always be remembered as the center of her large family who effortlessly threw together delicious meals for a crowd, offered wise and no-nonsense counsel to many and enjoyed shopping sprees with her youngest daughter. Marilyn was a world traveler often accompanied by her sisters-in-law Eleanor and Sis and dear friend Joanne. She had a lifelong and insatiable love of learning with an interest in many topics from world cultures to politics to her newfound love of college football. She was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel church and was a lector for many years. She will be missed and forever loved. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON, Wednesday at 10 AM. Funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Parish in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church at 11:00 AM. Visiting hours Tuesday 3 – 8 PM. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marilyn Murray Waywood Scholarship, Quincy High School, 52 Coddington St., Quincy, MA 02169.
