Bauzys, Marija (Daukantas) of Hingham formerly of Brockton, January 24, 2005. Beloved wife of the late Stanley F. Bauzys. Loving mother of Regina Bauzys-Battista of Hingham and the late Dr. Raymond Bauzys. Grandmother of Christina, Marc, Brad and Suzanne. Mother in law of Kevin Battista and Suzanne (DeSaulniers) Bauzys. She was predeceased by 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Lithuania. Marija was a skilled weaver of fine silks in Lithuania for many years. She made the finest chiffon and silk ties. Mrs. Bauzys was also an accomplished homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and being a seamstress. She took tremendous pride in her garden where she was known for tending to her rose bushes. Marija arrived in the United States in 1949 from Lithuania aboard the USS General C.H. Muir, a Navy transport ship, which brought thousands of refugees to this country under the International Refugee Organization. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Casimir’s Parish in Brockton. Mrs. Bauzys spoke five languages and lived in several European countries prior to coming to the United States of America.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM Saturday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10 AM. Visiting hours Friday 6-8 PM. Burial at a later date in High Street Cemetery, Hingham. Donations in memory of Mrs. Bauzys may be made to New England Home for Little Wanderers 271 Huntington Ave. Boston, MA 02130.
