Marie Therese (Tobin) Walsh (1943-2017)

Marie Walsh, age 74, of Weymouth, died Saturday, June 3, 2017 at home surrounded by her children.

She joins her husband of 50 years and the love of her life, James Walsh, who predeceased her in 2015. Marie was the loving mother of three children and their spouses who she loved dearly: Laura MacDougall and her husband Gary of Weymouth, Mary Lavigne and her husband Kevin of Plympton and Michael Walsh and his wife Katharine (Kababik) of Charleston, SC. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Ryan, Colin and Julia MacDougall; Peter, Timothy and Nicole Lavigne; and Andrew and Hannah Walsh. Daughter of the late Thomas and Katherine (James) Tobin, Marie grew up in Dorchester. She was predeceased by her older brothers Thomas M. and Michael J. Tobin and is survived by her sisters, Sister Patricia Tobin, SCH, of Brooklyn, NY, Helen A. Pace and her husband John of Hendersonville, TN, and Elaine M. McCarty and her husband Paul of Bridgewater. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

A graduate of Monsignor Ryan Memorial High School and Catherine Laboure College, Marie maintained lifelong friendships with many of her classmates. Before her retirement, Marie worked at the US Post Office South Postal Annex in Boston for 20 years as an occupational health nurse. Prior to that, she had worked as an occupational nurse at the Jordan Marsh warehouse in Squantum and at Colonial Nursing Home in Weymouth. Marie enjoyed spending time with family and friends and walking at Legion Field and Esker Park in Weymouth. She will be remembered for faithfully acknowledging her friends and family’s special events with hand-picked and personalized cards.

Marie was a devout parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Weymouth and relatives and friends are invited to attend Marie’s funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception, on June 10, 2017 at 10:30 a.m.  Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth, at a later date.
