Marie T. Gates

Gates, Marie T. (Palmieri) of Quincy, died March 30, 2016.

Marie was born and raised in South Boston where she began and raised her own family before moving to Quincy.  Marie spent much time taking walks along Castle Island and vacationing at Lake Sunapee.  She enjoyed crossword puzzles, crochet, playing bingo and learning to play card games.  She was active at The Moorings where she had lived the past year.  Marie was devoted to her family and will be sadly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her.      

Beloved wife of the late Gerald A. Gates.  Loving mother of Gerald Gates and his wife Marian of Quincy, Patricia Holmes and her partner Allen Mullaney of Quincy, Cheryl Pasquale and her husband Donald “Chuck” of Abington, James Gates and his wife Deborah of Dorchester, Debra Penzo and her husband Richard of Quincy and Brian Gates and his wife Kelli of Quincy. Cherished Nana of 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.  Caring sister of Virginia McGinley of NH and Muriel Irvine of Braintree.  Also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 10:30 AM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Boston.
