Marie Helene Clark was born on April 7, 1928 in Quincy, MA and passed away on August 27, 2018 in Squantum, MA. She is survived by husband, Jack Clark; son, John Clark; daughters, Sheila Clark & Anne Lawlor; grandson, Sam Lawlor; sister-in-law, Gloria MacDonald; brother-in-law & wife, Jim & Rose Clark; sister-in-law, Jean Clark; as well as numerous nephews and nieces. She embraced Forrest, Colin, Daxton, Rayne, Bryce, and Brooklyn Gourley, as her own grandchildren.
She grew up in Squantum, and attended high school at The Woodward School for Girls, Quincy. Marie earned a degree in Chemistry at Emmanuel College, Boston, in 1949. She worked as a Research Biochemist in the Department of Dermatology, Harvard Medical School at Massachusetts General for over 35 years, throughout the time she raised her family.
On June 7, 1953, she married Jack Clark at Star of the Sea Catholic Church where she remained a parishioner throughout her life.
She was an accomplished seamstress who crafted numerous quilts for friends and family, as well as sewing household items and apparel. An avid gardener, she was a longtime member of the Seaside Gardeners of Squantum, a group dedicated to environmental conservation and beautification. She also loved to travel and visited Ireland, Scotland, England and Guam numerous times. Saipan and Tinian were also included in her international travels. She was fascinated by history, and a couple of her favorite destinations were historic Fort Robinson Nebraska State Park and Gettysburg National Park.
She often watched TV shows dealing with the law and medical fields, and was a loyal fan of the Boston Bruins and New England Patriots, but her true passion was watching IndyCar and Formula 1 auto racing, both live and broadcast.
Marie will be remembered as a generous hostess and talented cook with a curious nature, a great sense of humor, and a warm smile. She will be missed as someone who always opened her home and heart to family and friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, 8:30 -10 AM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday in Sacred Heart Church, 386 Hancock St., Quincy, MA 02171 at 10:30 AM. Burial in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
