Marie Geselle, age 86, went to heaven to be with Jesus on Saturday, November 8, 2014 surrounded by loving family. A resident of William Rice Eventide Home, she will be missed by many friends and family. She was born on December 24, 1927 in Double Springs, Alabama. She married Willard Geselle on October 7, 1946 and served beside him as he pastored Nazarene churches in Corvuso and Grand Rapids, Minnesota and in Sumner Center, Corey, Gladwin, Alpena and Midland, Michigan.
The focus of her life was her faith and her family. She was a devoted wife and wonderful mother who took much delight in her grandchildren. She was known by several names: Marie, Annie, Mom, Grandma, Pastor’s wife, Nurse and more. However, what she was really known as, was a lady of Love, which is a moving and powerful legacy. More than anything else, she loved to love and loved to serve! She enjoyed giving the gift of love everywhere she went and in everything she did. Giving was a part of her nature. She blessed so many others by making quilts especially for them. She used her talents in the kitchen to share with others both at her own table and by bringing food to theirs. She found great enjoyment in caring for her gardens and generously shared the fruits of her labor. Blessing many lives as a caring and compassionate nurse, she had a special way of comforting others with her gentle touch. Her family is thankful for the Christian Heritage she passed down. To the very end of her life, even as her mind was fading, her sweet, kind spirit was evident to all.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Gerdis and Elma Adams, husband Rev. Willard Geselle, brother Jack Adams, son-in law, Ed Anderson, Granddaughter Leah Geselle, great –granddaughter Rachelle Anderson. She is survived by daughter Ruth Anderson of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, son Jim Geselle ( Julie) of Spring Hill, Tennessee, son Tim Geselle ( Rhoda) of Newbury Park, California, daughter Patsy Malas (Bill) of Quincy, Massachusetts; 9 grandchildren – James and Shawn Anderson, Karina Kliewer, Chip Stout, Scott Geselle, Gwen Geselle, Becky and Billy Malas, and Ericka Mills; 11 great-grandchildren – Conley, Leah, Michael, Kayla, Sofie, Daria, Lindsey, Alex, Nick, Max and Cody.
