Schlichte, Marie Claire (Brennion), 88, of Quincy, died on Friday, July 23, 2010. Beloved mother of John Schlichte and his wife Cathy of W. Boylston, Joe Schlichte and his wife Darlene of Lexington, SC, and the late Ann Marie Schlichte. Loving sister of Carl Brennion of Randolph, Sister Mary St. Joseph (Betty Brennion), OSF of Aston, PA and the late Gertrude Gumpwright, Fred, John and Joseph Brennion. Also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Marie was known by her middle name as “Claire” for about the first 70 years of her life. Later she became known by many as Marie. She attended St. Boniface Church in Germantown, where she raised her family and lived for almost 40 years. Early in life, she worked for Huerth and Huerth Furiers in Boston for one of her aunts. She then married and moved to Braintree and subsequently Quincy. Claire also spent several years working for the Quincy Public School system. Claire raised three children as a single parent in Quincy, MA. While she loved all of her children very much and devoted much of her life to them, she spent a great deal of time devoting herself to her daughter Ann Marie who had Down’s Syndrome. She had a very special heart for all who had mental retardation or Down’s Syndrome. All that special love and attention paid off as her daughter lived more than twice her early life’s expectancy. Claire never failed to share her love and attention with her daughter, even as both entered a nursing home. She enjoyed playing the piano and gave lessons in her early adult life. She also enjoyed the beauty of butterflies. Claire had many friends throughout these years and was quick to smile or wave. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 10:30 AM. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. Donations in memory of Marie may be made to the Special Olympics, 1133 19th Street NW, Washington, DC 20036-3604.
