In Loving Memory of Mary “Mitzi” Saia (Mortelliti)
Mary “Mitzi” Saia (Mortelliti), a vibrant and outgoing soul who touched the lives of many, peacefully left this world at the age of 93. She succumbed to the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease, a battle she faced with grace and resilience.
Born on July 3rd, 1930, Mitzi was a beacon of warmth and positivity. Her infectious laughter and boundless energy were constants in the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. As we bid her farewell, we celebrate the remarkable journey of a woman whose zest for life was unparalleled.
A social butterfly, Mitzi found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in traveling and in the company of others. Bingo and card games were her forte, and she could often be found engaged in spirited matches with friends and family. Her infectious enthusiasm and competitive spirit made every game a cherished moment.
Beyond her abilities at the card table, Mitzi was renowned for her culinary talents. A connoisseur in the kitchen, she delighted in preparing delicious meals that brought loved ones together. Her recipes, seasoned with love and tradition, will continue to be a cherished part of family gatherings for generations to come.
Mitzi is reunited with her beloved husband, Salvatore , her son, Steven, her twin sister Theresa, and her parents. Yet, her legacy lives on through her devoted daughter, Marianne (Saia) Cahill, who stood by her side with unwavering devotion throughout the journey of Alzheimer’s.
Mitzi leaves behind a legacy carried on by her three grandchildren—Jillian (John) of Weymouth, Steven of Providence, and Melissa (Tegan) of Quincy—and two great-grandchildren, Jameson and Harper. She is also survived by her sister, Rosie and many beloved nieces and nephews.
As we come together to mourn the loss of Mitzi, let us also celebrate the strong willed spirit that defined her life. May her laughter, love, and the cherished memories she leaves behind bring comfort to all who were touched by her remarkable presence.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation in her name.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday 2/7 from 4-8 PM at the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So.
