Mrs. Marie A. (Ingersoll) McHugh-Roy, of Halifax, formerly of Dorchester, passed away on March 30, 2022, surrounded by family.
Marie was born in Boston, a daughter of the late Francis and Estelle Ingersoll, she lived in Dorchester for many years before moving to Halifax. Marie was a spirited woman who lived life to the fullest. Marie loved to travel with her beloved husband David. They enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, California and Atlantic City. Their most cherished adventure was to Hawaii where they married in 2015!
She always enjoyed organizing bus trips to the casinos for many of her friends and playing bingo. Marie was a lover of animals and enjoyed gardening. Marie was famous for her great Christmas parties she hosted over the years. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Marie is survived by her loving husband, David Roy of Halifax, her children John McHugh, Jr. and his wife Andrea of Plymouth, Debora McHugh and her partner Kathy Otterson of Saugus. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Erin Curran and her husband Brian, Brian McHugh, Colin McHugh and great grandchild Raina Curran.
Marie is survived by her sister Doris Brock and her husband Dean, her brother Francis Ingersoll and his wife Mimi, her brother Paul and his wife Mary. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She is pre-deceased by her late husband John McHugh, her sisters Alice McHugh and Jean Pratt.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday, April 5th 4-8 PM at the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home South Weymouth located at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Funeral services will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 6th at 10:30 AM at the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in MA National Cemetery, Bourne, MA
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dana-Faber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center, 101 Columbian Street, South Weymouth, MA 02190.
