Maloney, Marie A. (Dwan) of Quincy, formerly of Scituate on July 4, 2007 at the age of 103 1/2. Wife of the late Sgt. John F. Maloney, BPD. Loving Mother of G. Richard Maloney of Orlando, Fla. and Barbara K. (Maloney) McGovern of Quincy. Mrs. Maloney is survived by 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the NORTH QUINCY Keohane Funeral Home, 333 Hancock St., N. QUINCY, Monday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint John’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Visiting hours Sunday 2-7 PM. Burial in Mount Benedict Cemetery, West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mrs. Maloney may be made to the Patients Activites Fund at John Adams Health Care Center, c/o Charlene Murphy, 211 Franklin Street, Quincy, MA 02169. Marie was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 6, 1904. When she was 4 years old she moved to St. Peters Bay Prince Edward Island. She spent her youth and was schooled at Tignish Convent in Tignish, P.E.I. She moved down to Malden and lived with family before meeting the love of her life, John F. Maloney. They married and raised their 2 children in Roxbury and Dorchester. Marie enjoyed baking especially her famous Chocolate chip cookies, banana bread and her white fruit cake. She worked as a switchboard operator for Mattapan State Hospital and then later for the United States Goverment and many private answering services. Marie worked into her early 70’s. She was a member of the ladies sodality, she enjoyed dancing and her daughter remembers attending polka dances with her mother. She was a social director at the senior citizens clubs she was active at. Marie lived many years in Quincy and Scituate. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marie was a devote Catholic who prayed every day for all those she knew and loved. She will be sadly missed by all those who had the pleasure to know her.
