Mari Colette Harrington Milkowski

Mari Colette (nee Hicks) Harrington Milkowski, 98, passed peacefully on August 24, 2011. She was the beloved wife of the late George W. Milkowski for 54 years. She is survived by her daughter Colette Harrington Dineen and her husband John J. Dineen of Wharton, NJ, her son George W. Milkowski, Jr. and his wife Kathryn Austin of Providence, RI, her son Forrest W. Milkowski and his wife Judy Hawes Milkowski of Brookline, NH, her son Jon Keith Milkowski of Troy, NH, her son Gary R. Milkowski and his wife Sharron Lyons Milkowski of Bellingham, MA, as well as grandchildren, Colette M. Dineen, John J. Dineen, Jr., Lori J. Adams, Dina M. Dineen, Danette D. Riviello, Jeffrey R. Dineen, Tiffonie M. Carroll, Forrest W. Milkowski, Jr, Keith Milkowski,, Carly m. Milkowski, Evan j. Milkowski, Amie M. Kuzara, Shari Milkowski, Nicoleta Milkowski and nine great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mari was preceded in death by her mother, Annette Fogarty Hicks, her brother Robert J. Hicks and his wife Alice Nagle Hicks, her sister Annette W. Duran and her husband Joseph R. Duran, her brother John V. Hicks and his wife Ruth Sellers Hicks, and son Warren Harrington. Mari, who was born in Boston, MA, lived in South Boston during her early years and spent the latter part of her life in Quincy, MA. In the interim, she travelled the country as a military wife with her husband George, known more familiarly as Skee, who served in and retired from the United States Navy. Mari was a very special, outgoing person who lived life with a flair. She had an extremely generous spirit, loved people, social activities, dancing and Bingo. She served in the restaurant business for many years. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday, August 29, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, Quincy. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday morning prior to the Funeral Mass in Saint Brigid’s Church, 845 East Broadway, South Boston at 10 a.m. Burial will will be held in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105-9959.
