Margaret T. “Peggy” Keyes

Margaret T. “Peggy” (Dooner) Keyes, of Hanover, died June 2, 2013. She was 79. Peggy grew up in Boston and has lived in Hanover for over 40 years. She was an active parishioner of St. Mary of the Sacred Heart in Hanover and member of both the Sons & Daughters of Eire and the Irish Social Club. She enjoyed gardening, going to the beach, traveling, walking and summering in Pocasset. She had a passion for dancing and was a joy to be around. Peggy was an incredibly beautiful woman, inside and out and will be remembered for her kindness, charisma and devotion to her family. 

Beloved wife of the late USN Commander James D. Keyes. Devoted mother of Lynda O’Connell and Regina Keyes, both of Hanover. Cherished grandmother of Robert O’Connell and his wife Brianna of Whitman, Michael and Bryan O’Connell of Hanover and Breheney O’Connell and her fiance Jason Dobry of Hanover. Loving sister of Helen C. Dooner of Braintree, Rose C. Charland of Orleans, Michael E. Dooner of S. Weymouth, Regina Senkel and her husband Francis of Braintree and the late Ann P. Snow, Joseph M., Paul F. and Dorothy Mae Dooner. Sister-in-law of Douglas Keyes and his wife Joanne of Hopkington and Sarah “Sally” Dooner of Quincy. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.  

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital)  Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8:45 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Parish, Hanover at 10 AM. Burial in New Calvary Cemetery, Boston. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to the Music Therapy Program at Boston Children’s Hospital, in memory of Margaret “Peggy” Keyes. Contributions can be made online at www.childrenshospital.org/tribute or checks made payable to Boston Children’s Hospital – with her name on the memo line – can be mailed to Children’s Hospital Trust, 401 Park Drive, Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215.
