Harrington, Margaret “Peggy” (McDonald) age 83 of South Weymouth, died peacefully on October 30 with her family by her side, having lived courageously for many years with Alzheimers disease. She was the daughter of the late Henrietta and William McDonald. Formerly of Dorchester and East Dedham, she was a proud graduate of Holy Trinity High School. Peggy’s greatest accomplishment was creating a warm welcoming and loving home for her family,encouraging all of us to do our best everyday in all aspects of our lives.
The beloved wife of 61 years to Edward F. Harrington, who provided devoted and loving care to Peggy throughout their marriage and especially in providing care during her illness.
Cherished mother of Kathleen Harrington of Weymouth, Maureen Herrmann and her husband Edward of Duxbury, Peggy Mansfield and her companion Ed Woods of Quincy, Edward Harrington, Jr. of South Carolina and William Harrington of VA.
Grandmother of Matthew and his wife Almina, Erica and Gregory Herrmann, Matt and his wife Jenni, Christopher, Nicole and her husband Chris Pirnie and Elizabeth Harrington. Great grandmother of Joseph, Chelsea and Harper Harrington and Lily and Wes Pirnie. Peggy was also a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her sister in law Joan and her husband Ed Connor of CA and her cousin Irma and her husband Bob Quigley of South Carolina. Peggy is predeceased by her brother William McDonald and her sister Beatrice and her husband Robert Naughton and her sisters and brothers in law Alice Harrington, Ruth and her husband Paul Wenger and John Harrington.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to join the family for fond remembrance of Peggy during the visiting hours on Monday 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home Tuesday morning at 8:45am prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, South Weymouth on Tuesday at 9:30 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
