Margaret ‘Peggy” Dowd

Dowd, Margaret H. “Peggy” (Carroll) of Dorchester, died June 3, 2015, surrounded by her family.  Born Sept. 20, 1935 in Rutland, VT to the late Francis and Ida (Pratt) Carroll. Beloved wife of James Dowd. Devoted mother to Maureen, Kevin and his wife Kathy Dowd. Loving Nonny to Jake, Jack, Kathleen, Maggie, Mary Kate and Seamus all of whom provided her much joy. Sister to Robert and Patricia of Vermont and the late Francis and Edward. She is predeceased by her beloved sister in law Mavis Carroll who was like a sister to Peggy. Greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews in whose accomplishments and loving natures she took great pride. She was a graduate of Mt. St. Joseph Academy, Rutland VT and St. Luke’s School of Nursing. Peggy provided compassionate care during a long career as a Registered Nurse at New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Gregory’s Church, 2223 Dorchester Ave. Dorchester,  Monday at 10 AM.

Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne on Tuesday.
