Houten, Margaret “Peg” M. (Leonard) of Quincy and Marshfield, passed away August 12, 2011. Beloved wife of the late Philip A. Houten. Loving mother of Timothy Houten and his wife Beth Wright of Middleton, Edward Houten of Quincy, Kathleen Houten of Quincy, John Houten and his wife Julia of Costa Mesa, CA, Jean McGrath and her husband Paul of Brantree and Patricia O’Rourke and her husband Sean of Weymouth. Sister of Catherine Corbo of Marshfield and Mary Mulligan of Quincy and the late Anna R. Ebbs and Mary M. Campbell. Peg is also the cherished grandmother of 11 grandchildren. Peg was raised and educated in Dorchester and was a graduate of Dorchester High School for girls. She was married to the love of her life Philip Houten for 30 years with whom she shared the same birthday and wedding anniversary. Peg worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail handler for 5 years before retiring in 1991. Peg loved the beach and enjoyed spending summers at the family beach house in Marshfield since 1957. The McKeon Post was one of Peg’s favorite places to meet with her friends for an evening out. Most of all Peg treasured the moments she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know her. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Parish at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne.
