Preston, Margaret Mary “Maggie” (Fraser), age 75, passed away suddenly but peacefully in her sleep after a brief illness, on December 29th, 2017, at her home in Braintree, MA. Maggie is survived by her husband, Patrick “Paddy” Preston, their eight children & spouses, as well as 19 grandchildren she adored and delighted in.

Maggie was born on New Year’s Day 1942, to the late James and Mary Margaret (MacKinnon) Fraser, rounding out their loving family, which included her sister Irene (Fraser) Fallon of Marshfield, MA, who survives Maggie, and their older brother John “Jackie” Fraser of Hanover, MA, recently deceased. Born, raised, married and subsequently bringing up her own family in Dorchester, MA, Maggie graduated from St. Patrick’s High School, Roxbury, MA and for years worked as a nurse’s aide in the nursery at the former St. Margaret’s Hospital for Women, working the overnight shift, so that she could be home during the day for her husband and children.

She is survived by her loving husband Paddy, as well as Brian Preston of Braintree, MA; Lisa and Karl Prenderville of Dublin, Ireland and their children James and Sara; Tom and Sandra Preston of Braintree, MA, and their children Thomas “TJ”, Anthony, and Alexandria; Patrick and Eileen Preston of East Falmouth, MA, and their children Virginia and Patrick; Kelly-Anne and Jeff Ferreira of East Bridgewater, MA, and their children Margaret and Jack; Glen and Patricia Preston of Nashua, NH, and their children Glen Michael, Morgan, Jared and Aiden; Tricia and Bob Toomey of Abington, MA and their children Edmund, Robert, and Fraser; and Tracey and Tristan Egan of Weymouth, MA and their children Liam, Julia, and Séamus. Additionally, she is survived by scores of nieces and nephews and their children. Maggie will be forever loved and missed by her family and her love, strength, wisdom, humor and deep thoughtfulness will be forever cherished.

Visiting hours will be held at McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, 809 Main Street, Weymouth, MA on Friday, January 5th, 2018, from 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM A funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 5th, 2018 at St. Clare’s Church, Braintree, MA, 1244 Liberty Street, at 11:00 a.m., with the interment service immediately to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 990 Lagrange Street, West Roxbury, MA. For those family and friends interested in making a donation in memory of Maggie, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
