Margaret "Peggy" Gibbons, 72, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, in Lexington, Massachusetts. Born on May 3, 1952, in Boston, Peggy lived a life filled with kindness, devotion, and an unwavering love for her family and friends.
Peggy pursued her passion for working with children with special needs at Boston College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education. She began teaching and then started her family while living in Missouri and Florida. When she returned to Massachusetts, she dedicated the remainder of her career to supporting children with special needs in Scituate and Weymouth Public Schools. Her work was more than just a profession—it was a calling. She was known for her dedication to the students and families she served.
Beyond her career, Peggy found immense joy in spending time with loved ones. Whether socializing with friends and family at the beach, visiting Scituate Light, or savoring french toast at Strawberry Fair, she cherished every moment shared with those close to her. She had a remarkable ability to create special memories and thoughtful gifts, always ensuring that those around her felt loved and appreciated. As a testament to her compassion, strength, and devotion, Peggy spent over a decade caring for her late husband Paul as he battled cancer.
Peggy grew up in Saint Mark's Parish in Dorchester and was a longtime member of Saint Paul's Parish in Hingham. Her faith provided her with strength and guidance throughout her life.
Peggy’s warmth and generosity touched many lives. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Peggy is survived by her beloved daughters Heather Ottoand her partner Thomas Negrel and Kristin Otto and her fiance Jeremy Watkins, as well as her cherished granddaughters Clara Otto-Negrel and Daisy Watkins. She also leaves behind her dear siblings Patrici Delaney and her husband George, Mary Moon, Christopher Flynn and his wife Janis, Richard Flynn and his wife Virginia, Michael Flynn and his wife Terri, and Lorraine Kiley and her husband Steve. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families. She was predeceased by her lifelong love Paul Gibbons, her parents Lorraine and Christopher Flynn, and her brother-in-law Conrad Moon.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, from 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10 AM.
Interment is private.
