Margaret Flaherty

Flaherty, Margaret (Feeney) “Peggy” of Quincy, originally Spiddal, Ireland, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family October 24, 2021.  

Peggy adored her family and her faith. She was a devout Catholic who prayed the rosary daily and attended Mass regularly when she was able and would watch Mass every night when she couldn’t. She enjoyed trips to the casinos to play the slot machines, lottery tickets, and visiting her daughter in NC. Peggy worked a long career at OceanSide Nursing Home. She was a warm hearted, hard working, and generous woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. 

Beloved wife of the late Coleman Flaherty. Loving mother of Mary Flaherty of Quincy, Thomas Flaherty and his wife Violet of Norwood, Ann Flaherty of Greensboro, NC, Frank Flaherty and his wife Renée of Lebanon, ME, Kevin Flaherty of Lebanon, ME, and Christopher Flaherty and his wife Linda Thomas of Tewksbury. Cherished grandmother of Gregg, Darcy, Helen, and Maggie Flaherty. Loving sister of the late Mary Thornton, Pat Feeney, Sally Conneely, Kathleen Lynch, and Mike Feeney. Also survived by many dear relatives in Ireland. 

Services for Peggy will be private. A recording of her funeral Mass will be available to view here after Friday. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Peggy may be made to Norwell Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice, 120 Longwater Drive, Norwell, MA 02061, to Catholic TV, PO Box 9196, 34 Chestnut St., Watertown, MA 02471, or to Divine Mercy Parish, 386 Hancock St., Quincy, MA 02171.
