Tivnan, Margaret E. (Lydon) of Hull, died at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, December 20, 2010. Beloved wife of 57 years to Francis Tivnan of Hull. Loving mother of Mike Tivnan and his wife Kristin of Hanover, Margaret Tivnan and her husband Douglas Wood of North Haven, CT, John Tivnan and his wife Eleanor of Hanover, and Robert Tivnan and his wife Haidee of Hingham. Cherished grandmother of Fiona Wood, Ryan, Jack, Trent, Joanna, Nicole and Brett Tivnan. Margaret was born in South Boston on January 31, 1924 and graduated from South Boston High School in 1942. She was the daughter of the late John V. Lydon and Margaret (Sullivan) Lydon of Carna, Galway, and was predeceased by her sister, Sarah Collins, and brothers, John, William, Joseph, Michael and Robert Lydon. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Margaret was a private person, and her life revolved around her family and their accomplishments. She especially enjoyed her children and grandchildren’s activities. A fitness enthusiast, Margaret enjoyed fast-walking and jogged many miles with her husband at Nantasket Beach. She and her husband also enjoyed many winters at their home in Naples, Florida. Margaret will be remembered for her vibrant energy, her beautiful singing, and her love of the outdoors. Margaret was an important part of the family business and worked well into her 80’s. She will be greatly missed by her family. At her request, a private memorial service will be held. Donations in memory of Margaret may be made to the Alzheimers Assn., MA Chapter, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
