Margaret Crosby Daniels, age 100, of Quincy and Orleans, died peacefully in her home, March 5, 2010, surrounded by her loving family and dedicated caregivers. Beloved wife of the late George R. Daniels. Loving mother of George W. Daniels of Pittsford, NY and Robert E. Daniels of Harvard, MA. Sister of the late William Crosby. Cherished grandmother of Scott Daniels, Esq. of NH, Ethan Daniels of CA, Chad Daniels, Drew Daniels, and Brett Daniels, all of Harvard. Great grandmother of Jasmine Daniels of CA, Benjamin and Natalie Daniels, both of NH. An avid gardener, Margaret found peace and solitude in her beautiful gardens surrounding the Cape Cod home she and her husband, George, built in the 1950s overlooking Little Pleasant Bay. Together, they cultivated hybrid rhododendron varieties from seed. Her favorite rights of spring included attending the annual flower show in Boston and readying various seedlings for transplant to her Cape gardens. She attended Vesper George School of Art and was a Registered Nurse who graduated from the School of Nursing at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. Margaret was an independent woman of many talents and skills. She was an exceptional cook who delighted in entertaining guests often with captivating stories of her childhood growing up in the oldest house in North Revere and summer visits to her parent’s family in Nova Scotia. Her endless interest in the activities of her family and friends was central to her joy in life. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who touched many lives with her kindness and ready wit. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Monday, March 8, 2010 from 5-8 PM; Funeral Service on Tuesday, March 9th at 10:30 AM both at the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. Burial in Riverside Cemetery, Saugus. Donations in memory of Mrs. Daniels may be made to the Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368.
