Margaret C. Slathe

Slathe, Margaret C. (Hanrahan) of Quincy, raised in S. Boston, passed away December 4, 2012. Beloved wife of the late Robert B. Slathe. Loving mother of Elaine M. Joyce of Quincy, and the late Robert E. “Bob” Slathe. Sister of William Hanrahan of S. Boston, and Edward Hanrahan of Plymouth. Cherished grandmother of Brian and David Joyce of Quincy. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Margaret’s passions in life were her family and education. She was a graduate of The Gate of Heaven High School in S. Boston and Teacher’s College at Boston State. She began her teaching career in the Boston Public School System and retired in 1990 from St. Ann’s School in Quincy after 25 dedicated years. She enjoyed traveling to Italy, Barbados and the Caribbean with her husband Robert and her brother. She took great pride in her family, children and grandchildren and was most pleased with the fine young men that her grandsons have become. Her family remembers her strength of character, perseverance, grace and dignity. She was kind, loving and nurturing and will be missed deeply by her loving family. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Saturday from 2-6 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. Guests will meet directly at St. Ann’s Church, Quincy for her Funeral Mass on Monday at 11:30 AM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne at 2:15 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Margaret may be made to Quincy Catholic Academy, 370 Hancock Street, Quincy, MA 02171.
