Margaret Burnett

Margaret “Peggy” Burnett  (nee Murray) 87, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2016.  

Born to James and Louise (Kane) Murray of Somerville, MA, Peggy was a graduate of Somerville High School and Fisher Secretarial School of Boston. Peggy married John Parker Burnett of Weymouth, MA, in September of 1950 and became a 56 year resident of Weymouth. She loved her St. Jerome’s community, “club” of friends, Wessagussett yacht club and volunteering at the YMCA. Her greatest joy came from her family – her daughter Terese “Tracy” Brown, Tracy’s husband Daniel Scott Brown, her grandchildren Kristine Margaret and Daniel Burnett Brown, her many cousins and their families.

Peggy enjoyed a long career at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Anyone who knew Peggy shared her grace, joy, and humor. With every conversation, she made others feel lighter, happier, smarter, more beautiful and more handsome. “Until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of His hand.” 

A Funeral Mass will be held in Saint Jerome Parish, 632 Bridge St., Weymouth, MA, Friday, April 22 at 10 AM.

The family would like to thank the many caregivers who treated Peggy with warmth, compassion and dignity.
