Margaret A. Doran

Doran, Margaret A. “Peg” (Flavin) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 with her immediate family and closest friends by her side in Hingham, MA.

Born on October 17, 1948 in Boston MA, Peg grew up in Dorchester and later in Braintree with her mother Dorothy Flavin, her father Thomas Flavin, and her four older siblings. She graduated from Braintree High School and soon thereafter married her husband Edward Doran of Quincy. They shared 49 years of loving marriage together in Hingham and raised their three children in the Hingham community. Peg worked for many years for the Hingham Visiting Nurse Association where she made special longtime friends that she continued to cherish until her death. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble, expressing her creativity by writing poems, monthly lunches with her friends from the VNA, spending time with family and her and her husband’s best friends since childhood Joel and Cathy Ruggiano, and she hosted countless holidays and family gatherings at home, always welcoming more to the table.  Peg was, by all who knew her, the embodiment of love, kindness and acceptance. She found the good in everyone, diminished any shortcomings, and her heart was always open. She loved her grandchildren and she and her husband made many precious memories for them over the years going to Brigham’s in downtown Hingham, the Carousel at Nantasket Beach, and more. She will be very dearly missed, especially by her husband and her children who find it hard to imagine life without the daily presence of her warmth and compassion.

She is survived by her husband Edward Doran of Hingham, daughter Michelle Doran of Hingham, Steven Doran of Kingston, Kevin Doran of Los Angeles, her daughter-in-law Brooke Doran of Kingston, grandchildren Alexandra Sassi, Annalee Doran, Chloe Doran, Emilio Doran, Noah Rawoof, and Anna Doran, and her siblings David Flavin, Mary Gustin, Richard Flavin and Maureen Sloan, her brother-in-law Robert Doran, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, relatives, close neighbors and community members who knew and loved her so well.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10 AM. Burial in Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth.
