Madeline M. Mahoney

Mahoney, Madeline M. (Geary) of Quincy, formerly of Dorchester, died July 4, 2013 at the age of 101.

Madeline’s life revolved around her loving family.  She especially enjoyed the grandchildren and babies.  She was a graduate of Somerville High School and Saint Margaret’s School of Nursing.  A registered nurse for many years, she retired from MA General Hospital in 1977.  A member of many senior citizen groups, most notably the Dorchester “K” Club, where she was involved in their activites and loved to play BINGO.  A generous woman, she was faithful to the St. Jude’s Hospital and many of the cancer charities.  She will be remembered as a loving, caring, and independent woman with a feisty spirit. 

Beloved wife of the late Timothy J. Mahoney.  Loving mother of Barbara Foley and her late husband James of Marshfield, Eileen Allen and her husband John of Uxbridge, James Mahoney and his wife Helen of Marshfield, and Dorothy Gannon and her husband Thomas of Holbrook. Sister of the late Ernest Geary, Dorothy Giovannucci and Harry Geary.  Also survived by 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 10 AM.  Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
