Madeleine Marie Quinn (Leary) a lifelong resident of Hingham died November 26, 2011 after a brief illness. She was 92. Born in Dorchester to Robert and Belle Leary (Calorie), she was a sister to the late Robert J. and John M. Leary. Madeleine graduated from Hingham High School. She was employed as an operator for New England Telephone prior to World War II. She enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and served in Rockland, Maine in communications. After the war she married the late Robert P. Quinn, a small business owner in Hingham. Their marriage lasted for 58 years. She raised three children and was active in their youth activities. She was an enthusiastic Den Mother, Bluebird Leader and little league cheerleader. Madeleine, the consummate beachgoer, could always be found in the summers at Hingham harbor or any of the surrounding beaches with her children and grandchildren. She became an avid golfer and until recently could be seen weekly playing nine at the South Shore CountryClub. At age 90 she was honored by the club as their oldest active member. Madeleine’s favorite activities included playing bridge at the Hingham Senior Center and participating in the Monday Night “sandbaggers” bowling league. Mrs. Quinn is survived by her children Robert P. Quinn Jr. and wife Maureen of Aiken, S.C. Madeleine “Cissie” Quinn of Marshfield, James B. Quinn and partner Sharon Pearlmutter of Marshfield and her sister Nancy Wholley of Hull. Her seven grandchildren Ryan, Amber, Nicholas, Peter, Barbara, Elizabeth, Gillian, great grandson Nikolas, many nieces, nephews and extended family will miss her. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10 AM. Burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.
