Mabel Frayling, 93, of Rockland, wife of the late Ernie Frayling, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 9. She is survived by her daughters, Leslie Seastrom of Rockland and Linda Frayling of Boston, as well as her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lillian and Ivan Crossman. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Mabel worked for many years as a receptionist and switchboard operator, but she was very proud of being one of the first women hired to work in the Massachusetts State Lab during World War II. She was a lifelong volunteer and particularly enjoyed volunteering at the Nash Elementary School in Weymouth and building a Habitat for Humanity house in Hanover, MA. She was an avid reader and an enthusiastic and knowledgeable gardener.
Interment at the National Cemetery in Bourne will follow at a later date.
Donations may be made in Mabel’s memory to Habitat for Humanity.
