Devoted Mother of Dianne Schnee of Newtown, CT, Kristin Wise of Andover,George of Needham, Jay of Quincy,David of Hingham, and Katherine DeLuca of Wrentham. Former wife of Alfred J. Balerna. Sister of Carol Robie of Rockland and Carl Andre of NY,NY. Loving grandmother of 11 grandchildren. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial service Monday May 9 at 11:30 AM in The Bethaney Congregational Church 18 Spear St. Quincy. Joan was born and raised in Quincy then moved to Hingham. A 1949 graduate of Quincy High School she graduated from Northeastern University in 1954. Before she became a mother she was a 4th grade teacher for Norwell Public Schools. She also substituted at Hingham High School from l988 to 1992. She loved gardening and reading but her true love was spending time with her children and her grandchildren.
