Beloved mother and grandmother, Lynne Beth Griffin, 73, of Weymouth, MA, passed away on March 16, 2025 after years of battling cancer in her digestive system.
Lynne was born on Friday, April 13, 1951 to Marjorie and Leonard Michael in Rochester, NY, and while she always joked that her birthdate made her a bad luck charm, the people around her knew that they were very lucky indeed to have her in their lives.
After graduating from Cortland College, she moved from New York to Virginia, where she developed and deepened lifelong friendships. She worked as a bookkeeper and a proofreader in the advertising industry, and made many wonderful friends at SB&A, where she worked for more than 20 years until her retirement.
After retirement she took joy in volunteering for many local organizations, including the Friends of the Weymouth Libraries, Friends of the Homeless South Shore, and Pingree Elementary School. Lynne was forever dedicated to helping everyone around her.
Of all of her achievements, she took the most pride in her daughter Amanda. In 2012, she moved from Virginia to Massachusetts to live with Amanda and her husband Matt. There she helped to raise two granddaughters, Eva and Zoe, and poured love and attention into everyone in the family.
Lynne is predeceased by her parents and brother Marty and survived by her daughter, son-in-law and granddaughters, her sister, Maryellen, her sister-in-law, Babs, her nieces, Jennifer and Renee, and her nephew, Larry, and grandnephews Zach, Evan, and Josh. Lynne also leaves behind a brokenhearted, supportive group of relatives in the Griffin family, including Guy and Debbie, Jeff and Judy, Carolyn, Drew, and SueEllen and their children and grandchildren. She also leaves behind wonderful friends in New York, Virginia and Massachusetts.
Memorial services will be held at First Parish of Norwell Unitarian Universalist, 24 River St., Norwell, MA, April 6 at 2 PM. Services will be live streamed. Email community@firstparishnorwell.org for the Zoom link.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Friends of the Weymouth Libraries.
