Penzo, Luigi Giuseppi “Louie” of Braintree, formerly of Quincy, passed away August 22, 2011. Beloved husband of the late Anna Lucia (Bollino). Loving son of the late Michael and Rose Penzo. Cherished father of Rosemarie Penzo-Huling of Braintree, Lisa Penzo-Johnson, and Louann Penzo; both of Halifax. Father-in-law of David Johnson of Halifax and the late Paul Huling and Michael O’Neill. Grandfather of Michael & Christopher Huling of Braintree and Nicole & Brianna Johnson and Joshua & Aidan O’Neill; all of Halifax. Brother of Frank Penzo and his wife Debbie of Quincy, Tony Penzo and his wife Mary of Newton, Mary Torchetti of Weymouth, Vinnie Penzo and his wife Mary of NH, Roseanne Plath and her husband Tom of MT, and the late Grace Boyne. Brother-in-law of Madeline Falcetta of Weymouth. Godfather of Linda Penzo-Williams, Lori Boyne-Moore, Dominic Falcetta and Lori Hayes. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins; both here and Italy, and many close friends. Louie was such a unique man who was beloved by all and made a lasting impact on so many lives. He loved his large family, helping people and especially the Red Sox. He was a construction mechanic by trade and worked many years for O’Brien & Sons in Waltham. Mr. Penzo could fix anything and always had a project going on at his home or helping many of his friends. His vegetable garden was legendary and he grew delicious tomatoes and zuchini. He will be remembered as a strong and giving man with boundless energy and a pleasant disposition, always finding the good in other people. He was a WWII Veteran who proudly fought in the Battle of the Bulge, which took place over the winter months of 1944 – 1945 . Mr. Penzo was awarded a bronze star for actions in liberating Dachau with the 90th Infantry Division of the 3rd Army under Gen. George Patton. He also earned the Army of Occupation, EAME Campaign, Good Conduct, and WWII Victory Medals. Mr. Penzo was a member of the Morrisette Post American Legion, Sons of Italy and Knights of Columbus. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 9:30 AM prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Braintree, at 10:30 AM. Burial in Braintree Cemetery. Donations in memory of Louis may be made to Hospice of the South Shore, 100 Bay State Dr., PO Box 859060, Braintree, MA 02184.
