Lowell A. Ascher

Ascher, Lowell A. of Hingham, formerly of Braintree and Canton, died April 25, 2013 at the age of 81.

Lowell grew up in South Dakota. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he met his wife. He served in Korea during the Korean War.  Later, he graduated from Northeastern University and the new couple decided to settle in this area and raise a family. Lowell worked as a sales engineer for Hewlett-Packard for 31 years. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and spent many days fly fishing on the Cape Cod Canal.  He was a longtime member of the Recreational Fishing Alliance. Lowell also enjoyed gardening, especially growing his own vegetables which all his neighbors were able to enjoy. He loved spending time with his family.  

Beloved husband of Patricia (Tangney) Ascher. Loving father of Joseph Ascher of Novato, CA, Julie Ascher of Santa Barbara, CA, Mary Kazan of Clinton, NJ and Valerie Odell of Sandwich. Cherished grandfather of Eric, Christina, Dennis, Angela, Bob, John, Brandon, Kailee, and Mark, and great grandfather to Tyler, Ryan, Mya and Lyla. Brother of the late Gladys, Elmer, Irene, Luella and Kenneth. Lowell also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and good friends.  

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service in the Derby Clubhouse at Linden Ponds, Hingham Thursday, May 2 at 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lowell may be made to the Salvation Army, 6 Baxter St., Quincy, MA 02169.
