Louis R. Hanrahan

Louis R. Hanrahan of Hingham, died September 28, 2018 after a courageous battle.

The beloved husband of 44 years to Barbara (Cappella) Hanrahan of Hingham. Loving father of Jason Hanrahan and his wife Anmari (Charvat) of Saratoga Springs, NY and Lieutenant Colonel Ryan Hanrahan and his wife Gina (Park) of Hingham. Cherished Papa to Henry, Lauren and Ronan. Brother of Jane Blake, Charles Hanrahan and his wife Cecelia (Cappella), and Joyce Loud both of Weymouth and the late Robert and Dennis Hanrahan. Brother in law of Gloria Hanrahan-Lane and Janice Hanrahan. He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Lou served proudly in the infantry as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division during his two tours in Vietnam. He was awarded a Purple Heart for being wounded in action. Upon his return, he attended Merrimack College. He retired as an ironworker, member of  Local 7, constructing many recognizable structures in the greater Boston area. He enjoyed many years sailing and boating as a lifetime member of Wessagusset Yacht Club. One of his passions was supporting and cheering on his two sons while they participated in various sporting events in high school and college. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, uncle, father and grandfather.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 5-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass in Church of the Resurrection, Hingham at 10 AM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne.
