Abruzese, Louis R. of Weymouth, died February 8, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.
Lou was a life long resident of Weymouth MA. He graduated from Weymouth High in 1939 and worked in the Quincy Shipyard before joining the Army Aircorp. After the war, Lou owned and operated Louis Trim ‘n’ style in Jackson Square before working as a Public Relations Officer for the Massachusetts Transportation Department. Lou was a passionate golfer and grew up caddying at South Shore Country Club and was a lifelong member. Lou had three holes in one beginning in his 70s with the third hole-in-one when he was well into his eighties and legally blind.
Lou is survived by his beloved wife Beverly A. (Reddish) Abruzese of Weymouth, and the late Dorothy A. Abruzese. Loving father of Dorothy L. Martel and her late husband, Paul, of Halifax, Paula A. Lankowski and her partner, Bob Charleton, of Weymouth, Louis R. Abruzese, Jr, and his wife, Kathy, of Halifax, Jacquelyn E. Nesbitt and her partner, Richard Falletti, of S. Yarmouth, Anthony B. Abruzese and his spouse, Miles Freedman, of S. Boston, Marylou Abruzese of E. Falmouth, Richard F. Linehan and his wife, Lynn LaFond-Linehan, of Hingham, David G. Linehan of Weymouth, and Ann-Marie Martin and her husband, Gregory, of Canton. Brother of Marie E. Keegan of Weymouth, and the late late Dominic Abruzese and Matilda DiBona. Grandfather of the late Gregory L. Martel. Also survived by 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and many devoted nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital) Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 10 AM. Burial will be held at a later date at Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Perkins School for the Blind, 175 North Beacon Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
