Mr. Louis P. Gangi, (85) of Weymouth, passed away suddenly on November 17, 2023.
Louis was an owner and operator of Pete’s Bar and Grille in Quincy for 65 years starting at the young age of 19.
Growing up in Quincy, he enjoyed and had fond memories of being a Boy Scout. A 1957 graduate of Archbishop William High School in Braintree, Lou made many life-long friends. After graduation, Lou went to Wilford Academy and trained at Charles of the Ritz in New York and became a hairstylist for many years.
Lou was a National Guard Reservist during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Lou was a long-time member of the Quincy YMCA, where he made many other close friends and where he competed in 5K races, including winning his age category numerous times (running up to the day of his passing). Lou loved traveling, gardening, cooking and was a classic car enthusiast- he loved to cruise in his show condition 1964 Corvette. Lou loved his family very much and treasured and thrived on family gatherings and holiday events. He adored his grandchildren. He cherished his friends. Lou will be deeply missed by all those that knew and loved him.

Loving father of Gregory Gangi of Quincy; Anne Gangi Regnier and her husband, Christian, of Milton; Lisa Mooney-Lang and her husband, David, of Kingston; and Lynne Nardone and her husband, Timothy, of Braintree.
Proud Papa to Brianna, James, Kevin, Justin, Madeline, Olivia, Kathryn and Miles. Brother of the late Virginia A. Vara and her late husband, Henry. Brother-in-law of Frank and Maria Esposito of Lowell. Brother of Lawrence P. Gangi and his wife, Jesse, of Quincy. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, including the late Lisa Ann Vara.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday, November 21st, from 4-8 PM at the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte. 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Wednesday, November 22nd, prior to the Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM.
Burial will follow in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
