Lorraine Moriarty

Lorraine Moriarty, 88 of Belchertown, MA, entered into eternal peace on June 14, 2008 after a long illness. Born in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of Julius and Ida Close and sister of Geraldine and Albert. Lorraine was a 1938 graduate of North Quincy High School. She resided in Quincy, MA until her marriage to her beloved husband, the late Robert Moriarty. Lorraine was an accomplished organist and soloist, performing music while a resident in Quincy at the Cathedral in Boston. She assisted her husband in their advertising business, having a sharp business acumen. She is survived by 2 daughters, Jeanne Bush of Belchertown, MA and Mary Hochstrasser of Quincy MA, mother to Lorraine’s 5 grandchildren, Thomas, Tracy, Amy, Brad, Robert and 2 great grandchildren, Kate and Will, children of Tracy and DJ Shaughnessy. She took the greatest of pleasure and pride from her family. She has given great joy and encouragement to her family with her laughter and love, a love that was strengthened by her love of God. Lorraine’s legacy is enduring love and immense courage. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, N. Quincy, Thursday at 10 AM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. Donations in memory of Mrs. Moriarty may be made to the American Heart Assn., 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
