Lorna M. Lucas (Canniff) of Weymouth, passed away peacefully into the presence of the Lord surrounded by her loving family on March 30, 2025 at the age of 100.
She was born in Montreal, Canada in 1924, she was the daughter to William and Lou Ann Canniff. Lorna pursued her education with vigor, earning an associate's degree from a secretarial school in Canada, which laid the foundation for her successful career.
For a decade, starting in the late 70’s, Lorna channeled her talents into the real estate industry, where she became a respected Real Estate Broker with Herbert W. Raymond & Son Realtors in Weymouth. Her professional acumen and dedication to her work were matched only by her commitment to her family and community.
In 1949, Lorna married the love of her life, Edward. After their wedding, Lorna moved from Montreal to Dorchester where the newly wedded couple started their life together and embarked on a journey of companionship and mutual support that lasted until Edward's passing in 1994. As a loving mother to four children, Lorna instilled in them the values of kindness and resilience, nurturing a family that would stand as a testament to her spirited nature.
Lorna's life was characterized by the love she generously gave and the grace with which she carried herself through life's challenges. She was the epitome of a strong woman, whose loving and kind spirit touched the hearts of all who knew her. Her life was centered around faith, something she passed on to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her love of God and family was obvious through her loving manner. She thoroughly enjoyed all the family gatherings. When her grandchildren were young, she adored having them over giving her the opportunity to spend quality time with them; whether it would be cooking their favorite food, teaching them how to swing a golf club in her backyard or any other activity they would be interested in doing, she simply enjoyed every minute with them.
As we bid farewell to Lorna M. Lucas, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and joy. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us, as we cherish the countless moments of happiness she brought into our lives. Lorna's spirit, forever loving and forever kind, will remain an indelible part of our story.
